FROM JOE SPINELLA
Its time to turn off the TV business shows and stop treating your stock
portfolio as chips on a gambling table. This is not investing, many people
are taking all their saving and risking it all on a game of pitch-and-toss
and losing. A better strategy, however, is articulated by Robert Frost "Two roads diverge in
a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all
the difference."
Now we are left with the task of building or rebuilding our stock portfolios,
the process could take decades. Direct reinvestment plans (DRIPs) are the
roads less traveled by.
Transaction costs, however, can be expensive, nonetheless, they offer a path to invest
in quality companies with little upfront money. Here are some suggestions:
Colgate-Palmolive, Kellogg, Campbell's, Air Products, United Technologies,
Monsanto, Becton Dickinson and Aqua America.
Be patient, this is a 20 year plan. Good Luck, Joe
Spinella
